No Place Like Home Newborn Sessions!!

Oh, I could go on forever about in-home newborn sessions because I am SO freaking obsessed with them! There’s just something magical about capturing those raw, real, cozy moments in the place where your family’s story is unfolding. I’m basically the most sentimental person ever, and seeing families with their brand-new little ones in their own space seriously gets me in my feels every time.

I totally get it, too—like, I’ve moved twice since my first baby was born, and the photos of my first house with my three tiny boys (now three *big* boys) are everything. They remind me of how far we’ve come and all the love and memories we’ve built along the way.

These sessions are laid-back and all about YOU. We’ll spend up to 90 minutes capturing those snuggles, sleepy baby stretches, and sweet family moments. I’ll travel up to 50 miles from 21102 (and farther for a small fee). It’s all about freezing those early days in time so you can look back and relive the magic of this chapter forever. Trust me—these photos will be everything.

How to Prep for Your In-Home Newborn Session (Without Stressing Out)

Okay, let’s talk about getting ready for your in-home newborn session! First off—*breathe*. These sessions are meant to capture all the cozy, real-life moments with your baby, not some Pinterest-perfect version of your home. That being said, a little prep can go a long way in making things run smoothly. So, let’s get into it!

1. Clean two favorite rooms.

No need to deep clean your entire house—this isn’t HGTV! Just focus on two rooms where we’ll shoot the most, usually the nursery and your living room or master bedroom. Clear clutter, maybe fluff a pillow or two, and you’re golden. These are the spaces where the magic happens, so let’s make sure they feel comfy and lived-in, not staged.

2. Milk is the MVP.

Whether you’re nursing or formula feeding, have plenty of milk ready for baby. They’ll probably need a snack or two to keep them happy and relaxed. A full baby is a sleepy, snuggly baby, which is exactly what we’re aiming for.

3. Bring in backup for other kiddos.

Got toddlers or older siblings? I *love* including them in photos, but let’s be real: solo shots with baby and parents can be tricky if your other little ones are bouncing off the walls. Having an extra set of hands (like a grandparent or friend) can help keep things calm and fun.

4. Light it up—naturally.

Natural light is my best friend, and it’ll make your photos look soft and dreamy. Pro tip: turn OFF the overhead lights. They can create harsh shadows that aren’t cute. If you’ve got big windows, open those curtains wide and let the sunshine do its thing.

5. Outfits for baby? Let me know.

I have an adorable stash of handmade newborn outfits you’re welcome to use, or you can stick with something you already love. Just give me a heads-up so I can plan accordingly!

6. Neutral vibes for the win.

When it comes to what you wear, keep it simple. Neutral colors like whites, beiges, or soft pastels are perfect. They keep the focus on your baby and won’t reflect weird colors onto their skin (no one wants a greenish baby because of dad’s neon shirt).

7. Parking and logistics.

If there’s anything I need to know about getting to your house—like tricky parking or a wonky front gate—just give me the details beforehand. It’ll help me show up ready to roll without any hiccups.

8. Relax—seriously.

I need you to hear me loud and clear: I do *not* care if your house is messy. Like, I live in the chaos of mom life, so I get it. I’m here to capture the love and connection, not judge your laundry piles. Your only job is to snuggle that baby and soak up the moment.

At the end of the day, these sessions are about celebrating your family and capturing the beauty of your everyday life. So, kick back, relax, and let’s make some magic together!
