Newborns change fast—one minute, they’re tiny, curled-up, and impossibly fresh, and before you know it, they’re stretching out, becoming more alert, and looking more like a baby than a newborn. That newborn stage is so fleeting, lasting only about four weeks before they start growing into their features, staying awake longer, and filling out those adorable rolls.
A true newborn session captures those first, sleepy days when they’re still so small and curly, fitting perfectly in your arms like they did in the womb. After four weeks, they’re more alert, more wiggly, and not quite as easy to pose in those dreamy, snuggled-up positions. While older babies are just as precious, the newborn stage has a softness and stillness that disappears in the blink of an eye.
If you want to capture that true newborn magic, it’s best to book your session early—ideally within the first two weeks of life. Waiting too long means missing out on those tiny details that change so quickly. So if you’re expecting, let’s chat now! Your little one will only be this new for a moment, and I’d love to help you remember every sweet, sleepy detail.
